Why Wolves?

So, why wolves?

A very good question indeed.

Wolves are a very important part of AeaTr's history. The main reason I chose wolves over something like hawks or dragons is because they are the name and mascot of the Royal Bodyguards, the excellent fighters dressed in shadows who rarely show themselves unless one of the royal family or their personal servants are in danger. The Wolves are almost always Combat gifted [see Combat Gift] and never anything less than devoted to their service until they retire.

So, a good enough explanation, except, why wolves for the name of the Royal Bodyguards?

So, you're getting technical on me, eh? Good, I'm proud. The very first king of AeaTr, King James, was very intelligent, and knew that every precaution needed to be taken to insure the safety of both his family and his subjects. So he created the Royal Bodyguards. But he wanted them to have a more creative name than that. So he went to his wife.

His wife, Queen Evelina, was AnimalBonded [see Bonds vs. Gifts] to a wolf named Myra from the Adonolya Forest. Myra was very beloved by not only her Bonded but the king as well. So the Wolves were named after her.

Why did you choose a wolf for Evelina to be Bonded to, you ask?

Will you never let up? Just kidding. So, why wasn't she Bonded to a hawk or a dragon? Because it was conveinient. James, Evelina, and their companions met in the Adonolya Forest. The Wolfmages reside in the Adonolya, as do the wolves. If they'd have been traveling through the Autumn Woods, then she'd be Bonded to a hawk; the Vitriolic Ridge, then a dragon. Besides, future Queens Adeline and Irene are Bonded to a hawk and a dragon. Adeline was (is) Bonded to Xere, a peregrine falcon, and Irene will be Bonded to a dragon that I just haven't named yet.
