We lost our little angel during Colleen's 14th week of pregnancy
on Feb 9, 1999. We want to remember our "AngelBaby", who we
decided to name Elizabeth, here so we can share our story with
others. Its been hard to deal with emotionally but we've found
some good people who have been through miscarriages themselves
and understand the grief that goes with it.
Elizabeth received this great gift from Kim. Thanks so much!!
We knew we were expecting for 10 weeks and the baby seemed very
real to us. Baby blankets were made, names were being thrown
around, and we were making some plans for the short and long
term. We already had three healthy sons,
Brendan,
Colin, and
Nolan.
We later had a daughter,
Kathryn.
They also have threee cousins
Diana Lynn,
James, and
Daniel.
We tried to be very careful, given preterm births with two of our
sons and saw the OB regularly. At 10 weeks, the ultrasounds came
back fine, so we didn't feel much need to worry. At 14 weeks,
Colleen went to the OB for a regular exam and they failed to find
a heartbeat. Tom joined her for the ride to the hospital for a
ultrasound. Still, we thought, there was no need to worry - the
baby was just 'hiding'. After the exam the doctor broke the news
to us - the baby had died about 1 week ago. We were devestated.
prevent this?" were all going through our heads. Finding peace
with God was essential to getting through this, we realized. Our
little "AngelBaby" was safe in His arms and we took comfort in
that, even though we really wanted him/her with us. We found
people who we could share our stories with and help the grieving
process. We will still try for another, but I'm sure the pregnany
experience will be different - anxiety and worry will be with us
but so will God's love and His strength. Together, we will get
through this. We will remember this angel and continue our
family, and gain strength and inner peace by His hand.
