This is the love theme from Titanic playing. I love this song and
decided to put it here because of the several Titanic books reviewed below.

Tom's All-Time Favorite

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett

Pillars of the Earth is one of those rare finds that, after you
finished reading it, you can't wait to run out and tell others about it.
Ken Follett is a master storyteller who truly engages the reader with his
characters, describing history and culture, and bringing out all your emotions at his will.
Pillars is set in the 11th century and gives the reader a real understanding
for the time and place of the unfolding drama. A real thumbs up!!

Tom's Favorite Series: The Dark Tower by Stephen King

Stephen King's the Dark Tower series spans two decades and is still
going strong. Unlike his usual horror collections, The Dark Tower series
is very fantasy/science fiction. Taking place in a twisted world similar and
dissimilar to our own, King takes us on a journey with Roland, the last gunslinger
and his band of travelers to a quest for the Dark Tower. King is at his twisted best
as he unravels the continuing tale of Roland's world.

Book 1
The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger by Stephen King
We're introduced to Roland and his quest to find the Dark Tower in this
first installment of the Dark Tower series.

Book 2
The Dark Tower: The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King
Roland continues his journey by choosing companions from our own world,
come together through time and dimensions.

Book 3
The Dark Tower: The Waste Lands by Stephen King
This book is really two segments of Rolands journey in one book.
They examine the depth of Roland's world as it stands in his time and introduces
a very unusual and psychotic train called Blaine the Mono!

Book 4
The Dark Tower: Wizard and Glass by Stephen King
King returns after a six year hiatus to explore Rolands past in the
fourth installment of the search for the Dark Tower. As Roland unveils an adventure
from his past, we are introduced to his best friends of old, Cuthbert and Alain,
and meet the love of his childhood, Susan Delgado. This is one of the
most unusual love stories I have ever read! Well worth the trip down memory lane!

Tom's Best Series (Runner-up): The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien

The Hobbit and The Complete Lord of the Rings:
The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King/Boxed Set

by J. R. R. Tolkien

I read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy in college
and greatly enjoyed the series. Tolkien is famous primarily for this fantasy work
and rightly so. The Hobbit starts off the tale of Bilbo Baggins and
continues his quest in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Forces of good and evil, fantasy dragons and creatures of all kinds (gollum!)
clash in this classic fantasy series.

Tom's Favorite Titanic Books:

James Cameron's Titanic by James Cameron
Yes, I loved the movie Titanic and this book explores how it was made with
amazing special effects and vivid color photos! My hat is off to James Cameron for
putting together a masterpiece, both a movie and book.

A Night to Remember by Walter Lord
This is the first book really exploring what really happened that night
on April 14-15, 1912. Written in the 1950's, author Walter Lord was able to interview
many of the actual survivors to find out the exact sequence of events that
led up to and through that fateful collision with the iceberg.

and its sequel:
Night Lives On by Walter Lord
This is the sequel to A Night to Remember, written in the present day.
It explores the American and English board of inquires and what happened aboard
the Califorian that night. This was the one ship who might have been able
to save the doomed Titanic before so many lives were lost.

Tom's Current Book:

Life Support by Tess Gerritsen

Tom's Other Favorites:
Total Control by David Baldacci
This non-stop thriller is very engaging and full of mystery -
everything a good book should be. Baldacci takes the reader on a wild chase
with a complex storyline, and well thought-out characters.
He makes you want to read till 2am to finish it. Definately a plus in my book.

The Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett
Taking place during World War II, we are engaged in a fast-paced,
and suspenseful spy thriller, as only Follett can write it.

Sole Survivor by Dean Koontz
A riveting tale of one man's journey for the truth behind a passenger jet's
destruction. Koontz is the master of imagery, as you see the events unfolding
through very vivid and descriptive terms. The ending is a shocker,
so I won't go into detail on that one!
