Penwoods Hondo Crouch

See more of Hondo

On Friday, May 16, 1997, my beloved Hondo crossed to the Rainbow Bridge.
He went peacefully in my arms, with one last kiss and a promise that we would be together again.

Hondo was a classy gentleman, with an indomitable spirit. That spirit will live on in my heart forever.

Hondo was a true ambassador for the boxer breed. His charm and innate sense of humor, never failed to win the hearts of all he met.

Hondo's name was picked out after a visit to Luckenbach, Texas. He was named in honor of the legendary Texan, Hondo Crouch whose statue stands watch over the Luckenbach General store.

These pages are dedicated to the memory of my inseparable
companion of ten years, and those who went before him.

Let us honor and cherish the noble spirit of "The Boxer".

"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary
than our own live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully
understanding the necessary plan."

THE DANCE

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Holding you, I held everything
For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the King would fall
Hey, whose to say, you know
I might have changed it all

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
