Reflexology can be a valuable therapeutic technique as well as a useful
means of assessing skeletal or postural difficulties in other areas of the body.
During the course of a relaxation massage, I use it after I have completed
the first half of my normal massage from the head to the feet while the client
is lying on their back.
(please see the note on the
Patient Breathing Technique, it is very helpful)
My first contact with the feet is to use an alcohol based tingley refreshing liniment

( that I make AND will share ... IF a donation covering my costs and shipping is sent. (-; )
[I don’t use oil based lotion due to the slippery feeling when they put on shoes and socks]

on both feet at the same time while also comparing and noting differences
for more specific attention later.
If my client is having a back problem, I will normally find an area(s) in the
instep of one foot that differs from the other. I focus on the area(s) of the foot.
Then, when the patient is face down, the corresponding muscles in the back
can be located, treated and relieved.
On patients that are having difficulties with menstrual cramps,
one foot will usually be much more tender to pressure in the associated area.
A a circular, gradually firming, pressure with the thumbs will temporarily
relieve cramping in most cases with-in a few minutes after treatment.
Sometimes it is helpful to ‘zero in’ on the most sensitive area gradually with
narrowing circular motion and then apply and hold a firm pressure for
a minute or two.
Please note the cramp technique is seldom a pleasant experience for the patient...
but, for women who have SEVERE cramps, it is worth the discomfort
and should be repeated at the next sign of cramps returning.
After the reflexology portion is complete, I use vibration on both feet
with extra attention to the areas of difficulty...
The same client that may have been moaning in pain moments earlier,
may fall asleep before you’re finished with the vibration.

These are the approximate reflex locations in the feet
corresponding to locations throughout the body...
Attention to specific areas of difficulty is the aim of treatment,
however, simultaneous, bi-lateral comparison of the feet,
while noticing differences, can also provide a valuable assessment
of skeletal or postural conditions.
After treatment is completed, a gentle, guided range of motion of the foot
may relieve skeletal stresses in the foot as well as
the associated area of the body ...
VIBRATION WORKS WONDERS in relaxing the feet !!!
