Maps provide a pictoral frame of reference to the areas our ancestors lived in and give us a better view of the world they lived in.  I will try to provide links to some historical maps of the regions in which our ancestors settled in an effort to give you a better idea of the small number of towns and villages that were actually in exisistence in the area when they lived there in comparision to what the areas are like now.

Also, many of the towns inhabited by our ancestors are either no longer in existence or are now called by different names, making it difficult, if not impossible, to locate the towns in which they lived.

I hope that these maps will aid you in your research, or if, like myself, you are an “old map buff,” you will just enjoy them for their aestetic value.
