WARREN HASTINGS` HOUSE, CHUNAR FORT, BANARAS.

PLAN AND ROOF PLAN MEASURED PRIOR TO THE PROPOSAL

The rectangle shaped house built in 1753, was occupied in 1781 by Warren Hasting. The location commands a majestic view. The ganga flows nearby and can be seen from two sides of the house. The ceiling of wooden beams, stone slabs and lime concrete has an equally intricate cornice on the inside and the outside.

The study to gauge the potential of the house as a heritage property was sponsored by U.P.S.T.D.C. Ltd; and was carried out on behalf of M/s Neemrana Hotels. The proposal revolves around utilizing the advantages provided by the building viz. view, high ceilings, large rooms, verandah spaces etc. Seven guest rooms, five guest suites, one large dining hall, one similar sized sitting room and kitchen/ pantry spaces have been created. The roof of the central hall has been removed to provide light and ventilation.
