Key West is the southernmost settlement within the continental limits of the United States. It lies about 100 miles from the mainland on a sand and coral island about 4 miles long and 1.5 miles wide in the western Florida Keys. The name is an English corruption of Cayo Hueso (“Bone Island”), the name given to it by Spanish explorers who found human bones of natives there. Although small in size, it is has a large WOW factor for its natural beauty and many "fun in the surf and sun" activities.
