WE HAVE SOME GOOD ONES IN THE COMMING MONTHS DEALING WITH THE NEW ISSUES ON THE HEALTH CARE OVERHAUL, AS WELL AS THE LABOUR, AND ECONOMIC ISSUES THAT ARE DRIVING A WEDGE BETWEEN US AND OUR GOVERNMENT. THE WOMEN OF UNITE 1764

Who are the women of Unite 1764? To be perfectly honest we didn't even know who they were until a few days ago. However when you hear their story I hope you see the injustice they have had to face. Their story is a perfect example of how Mike Harris, and his band of Tory thieves have stolen basic rights from the people of Ontario. This is a story of big business taking advantage of the workin' people, and trying to put more people out of work. It is a story of a company trying to get its legal union employees to work for slave wages. Is this Canada or some Third World Country where people have no rights? Well if Harris has his way, that is just what the people of Ontario will become. This story is probably one of the best examples of just how we are getting the shaft in Ontario.
The women of Unite 1764 work for a company called J.B. Fields, in Trenton Ontario. These Union Sisters have been on strike since March 23, 1998 when the company through a bankruptcy scheme tried to roll back their wages of $12.00 per hour, to $7.07 per hour. This is a roll back of $4.93 per hour, and as far as BIG BRO' is concerned you may as well call it $5.00 per hour. Can any of you out there afford a wage cut of that extent? We are pretty sure you can not. However this is exactly what J.B.Fields wants these Sisters to do. On the same issue the men who work for this company were only asked to take a roll back of $1.45 per hour, from $14.45 per hour to $13.00 per hour. Something is wrong with this picture, and we at BIG BRO' strongly feel that some Human Rights issues are being ignored here. As bad as this all is, it is not the only kick in the teeth these Sisters have had to deal with.
All of the men who work for J.B.Fields, have decided to cross the picket line and accept the roll back in their wage. However to be fair some of the women that work there have also been reduced to SCABS and have crossed the line. I can understand somewhat why the men would cross, but the women that work here are getting a kick in the teeth. How do these women expect to gain equality in the work place, if they don't join their Sisters in the fight. As far as these men go, it makes us at BIG BRO' very ashamed to see these SCABS with no balls. The point is any cut back in wages, is too much and unacceptable. I hope you men are proud of yourselves, having to have your Sisters fight your fight. If you can't support your Sisters in their fight for all of you workers, then you do not deserve the Union jobs that you have, and you should go home and send your wives out to support you, as they would probably do a much better job of it. As far as BIG BRO' is concerned J.B.Fields is not and equal opportunity employer, and the men who work there are sexiest and not following Union objectives for equality in the work place. As if this was not enough for these Sisters, the kicking doesn't stop there.
After six long months on the picket line, J.B.Fields decided to invoke the famous Harris Anti- Union legislation and bring SCABS into work for these Sisters. Yes I know we have already covered that. However in doing so the company terminated without notice, and/or just cause the employment of these Sisters. However the company has yet to notify them of this action. Seems to us Mike Harris and his band of Tory thieves, have really gone and made a fine mess of our Province. In this case the Corporate Monster is just running ruff-shoot over these Sisters, and Harris keeps moving forward with the no-sense revolution. Wake up Mike people are being put out of work by this illegal and unjust activity. Families are suffering, and instead of creating jobs you are creating a bigger welfare roll. When are you and your band of thieves going to start working for the people, and stop working for big business. Big business takes care of themselves just fine without your help, and the people of Ontario could use a little support from this Government for once.
To add insult to injury other companies have been helping out J.B.Fields in their fight with the worker. To name a couple, Eatons and Mountain Equipment have been buying non-union products from J.B.Fields. This is a prime example of big business looking out for their own, and not concerning themselves with the workin' people who buy their products and keep them in business. BIG BRO' is going to make a complete list of these companies that are supporting this illegal and unjust action against the Sisters of Unite 1764, and posting them on our site in an effort to assist our Sisters there. We are also calling on our supporters to help in the boycott of these companies, as well as lending support to these strong Sisters in their fight. Their fight is our fight, as they are fighting for the basic rights that belong to all the workin' people of Ontario. It is time we all stand up and be heard, and show our support for the Sisters of Unite 1764. In doing so we will show our support for all the workin' people who must suffer at the hands of the Tories, and their Corporate Monster Militia.
