Aberdeen NJ (Monmouth County)
Garden State Parkway, southbound express lanes, 1 person flown by NorthSTAR to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Rural/Metro EMS and Aberdeen First Aid responded along with Perth Amboy MICU and NorthSTAR.

The New Jersey State Police closed the parkway in order for the helicopter to land on the roadway, the people waiting in their cars were pissed, There were a total of 4 BLS units, 1 ALS unit and 1 helicopter for 1 victim in non-critical condition.

The New Jersey State Police operate 2 medivac helicopters in cahoots with The University of Medicine and Dentistry Paramedics and Flight Nurses. Here you see N5NJ (NorthSTAR) taking off enroute to Robert Wood Johnson, NorthSTAR is based off the roof of UMDNJ Hospital in Newark.

Old Bridge NJ (Middlesex County)
Route 34 and Morristown Rd. near Park Plaza, NorthSTAR transported 1 adult and 1 infant to the trauma center then returned to the job for another adult who was pinned in their vehicle for over an hour.

All 5 township fire companies were involved in this incident, Cheesequake Fire Company and Cheesequake First Aid were first on the scene, South Old Bridge Fire Company covered stations, Laurence Harbor assisted in the extrication and the landing zone.

Laurence Harbor, Red & White, Green & White and Madison Park First Aid Squads along with Medic 622 from Robert Wood and Perth Amboy MICU assisted in removal of patients, Cheesequake First Aid was on the scene within minutes and requested the proper resources.

Back in the 80's

East Brunswick Rescue Squad
NJ, Middlesex County

Pictured top left are four Braun van type ambulances of the East Brunswick Rescue Squad . These shots are from the mid 1980's. This Building burned down in the late 90's. To the left is a picture of the squads TRS80 Radio Shack computer. This computer setup was extremely advanced for it's day. This terminal was connected to an IBM main frame that enabled the members to enter any address in town and get the most direct route and any specific pertinent information regarding the call address. In addition the computer system also logged calls, and handled duty crew schedules.

East Brunswick Rescue Squad was also responsible for rescue. Above and to the left is the old 350 4x4 known as the "CRASH TRUCK" it was loaded with almost every state of the art (and not so state of the art) tool you could think of. From the Omni series hydraulic set to the infamous Hurst Jaws of Life. the truck could be used as a fully capable transport unit. the unit sported an A FRAME that would allow a vertical lift capability along with a front mounted winch, onboard electrical generator, air compressor assorted air lifting bags, internal and portable hydraulic spools. This truck was as close to ridding a bucking bronco as you can get. Van style ambulances were in style in the 80's East Brunswick had a fleet of 4 Braun Ambulances manufactured in Ohio. These rigs were traded in every year serving a 4 year tour. Braun was known for there craftsmanship and customizations. All of the rigs were made to order and the chief driver would be flown out to the Ohio plant for the final ride back to Jersey. The above picture of the ambulance is located in the old E.R. bay of what was then Middlesex General Hospital AKA Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. This picture   shows a side view of the ambulance with the sliding door open. The seat visible in the shot is called the jump seat. This is the view  looking in the back of the rig with the rear door open. Most every space in an ambulance is occupied with equipment , supplies and tools.
