Brief Church History

Theater Ministry has been an important part of our congregation's life.  Our building program includes plans for a renovated theater space allowing us to increase the frequency of our performances and the technical quality of our productions.  WE WOULD BE PLEASED TO HEAR FROM PERSONS interested and/or experienced in theater ministry: actors, playwrights, lighting and technical people and stage managers! Please call the church office at 973-887-4657.

In the Spring and Summer our church fields a co-ed softball team that plays in a non-competitive church softball league in Morris County.  New players are always welcome.  For more information, please speak to our team captain, Andee Milhalko at 973-887-4657.

Leading lights of the UMW performing and having a fine old time!

Issues of the Christian life.  On Sunday mornings before worship at    9:45am, Sandy and Len Bostwick lead a discussion for adults on       some of these issues that confuse us in today's society.

Every other Monday two people from our church go to Morristown to help give out sandwiches and a cold drink to poor and homeless persons from 5:45pm to 7pm as an outreach of the Market Street Mission.  If you would like to take a turn please call the church office at 973-887-4657.

Food is collected weekly for the Parsippany Food Bank to assist the poor of our community.

The Pastor's discretionary fund is available to aid persons in time of critical need.

The United Methodist Women (UMW) meet once a month to enjoy a variety of programs that stretch the mind and open the heard.  Each year the UMW has raised large amounts of money for essential mission projects locally and abroad.

The United Methodist Men (UMM) raises funds to make possible the furthering of our church's mission in a variety of ways.  In the past this has included providing plane tickets for two refugees to flee the civil war in Liberia to come and live with family members here in Parsippany.  They have also financed the purchase of new chairs for our sanctuary.

A Men's Breakfast is held every Tuesday at 7am at the Empire Diner on Rt. 46.  It's a relaxed time of laughter and informal discussion, concluded with a prayer.  All are welcome.

                The Prayer Chapel.

In memory of all the men

who have belonged to our church

The Memorial Prayer Chapel was constructed in 1991 by the United Methodist Men as a memorial to past members of United Methodist Men.  There is always  a place now, for quiet contemplation and prayer amid the many activities held within our building.  Artisans from the congregation created the stained glass and woodwork that gives the intimate space a feeling of serenity.

Our congregation has been in ministry in the Parsippany area since 1830.  The present church building was built in 1964 after the old building was razed in 1962 to make way for the construction of  I-287.
