Our soccer club: PATRIS United
Table of Contents:
Brief History
The soccer team was organised by the Southern Highlands Greek Community in the early days of its existence.
All of the committee members in those early days where into sports, so the idea of forming a soccer team came naturally.
The first soccer training was held on March 1995 at the Chevalier College soccer ground of Bowral, with 13 players.
That first team competed in the Reserved Grade/All Ages competition of the Highlands Soccer Association.
In early 1996, we also organised a team for the Under 16 competition of the Highlands Soccer Association.
There are now about 35 players in both teams.
Our Name and Symbol
Our name PATRIS UNITED was agreed in a meeting of the committee on March 1995 and was suggested by Mrs. Judy Vasilaki,
a member of the community. PATRIS is an ancient Greek word meaning "Fatherland". It indicates not only the background
of the community but also the multicalturism of the team since we all have a fatherland. Yet, we all stand united in
the team, thus, PATRIS UNITED. The symbol is a soccer ball on a light blue and white vertical striped background. Our colours
are light blue and white. They are taken from the Greek flag and they symbolise the sky with its clouds, or the sea with its gushing waves.

The training is held at the Mittagong Oval, every Tuesday and Thursday 6:00pm to 8:00pm. For further information please do not hesitate to
