Greek Dancing Group
Table of Contents:
Brief History
The dancing group was organised by the Southern Highlands Greek Community in the early days of its existence.
The first dancing lesson was held on 30 April 1995 at the Mittagong Public School. There are 11 permanent dancers
(aged between 15 and 30) in the group that have danced for many events such as community dance parties, multicultural festivals (Goulburn),
and Greek nights. Lately we have formed another dancing group for younger dancers (under 13).
Practice hours
Our group practice is on every Sunday (excluding school holidays) at the Mittagong Bowling Club, 3:00pm to 4:00pm for the
young ones, and 4:00pm to 6:00pm for the older ones. For further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
Our aim
Our main objectives are:
- To promote frequent contact between the locals.
- To promote and preserve the culture, customs and traditions of Greece's national background through the regional dances.
- To learn "the moves" of Greek dancing.
- To have fun.
Latest Performance
Our latest performance was on 16 November 1996 on the dance party of the community for the national Greek celebration of "NO"
