The Newbery Medals
The Newbery Medals are awarded each year by the American Library Association in honor of John Newbery, a famous children's book publisher from England. The Medal is given to the book that has made "the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children." The American Library Association gave the first medal in 1923 and has given it yearly ever since.
These books can be found in your school library or public libraries. Even though the award goes back to 1923, some of these books are classics that can be enjoyed over and over again today.
