St. James Lutheran Church is a congregation of believers who worship together, follow the teachings of Christ as
detailed in the Holy Scriptures, and extend this belief through our commitment to programs and service for the
benefit of its membership as well as witness to the community and beyond.
St. James believes strongly in involving every member in its mission of service. In so doing, members of the
congregation are given major responsibilities as assisting ministers, lay readers, ushers, greeters, etc. In
addition, members chair all standing committees. Members are also involved in committees and boards of the
Metropolitan Chicago Synod and the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We strongly support these princliples
of service.
