YAESU FT 102 - Blown Lamps? Can't get original? - or alternative axial lamps

I found some 12 volt 100mA mini lamps do the job very well. Below is picture of the lamps. The leads are actually colour coded for the of the lamp voltage. The blue covering of the original lamps neatly fits over these. The resulting illumination of the meter is indistinguishable from the original axial lamps. My lamps came from http://www.jacar.com.au but I would imagine that they are available from similar electronic stores around the world.

SQUID POLE ANTENNA

Many thanks to Robert VK3KRB for both the idea and the squid pole (birthday present).

Following is a description of my Squid Pole random length vertical antenna based on a design by Robert VK3KRB. Description:-

The pole is 8 meters in length.
The tip has been cut off so that a length of thin hookup wire can be fed up through the center.
A base was contructed out of commonly available plumbing parts to allow for a coax feed line to be attached
This is Phase 1 of construction. Following further discussion with VK3KRB I intend to lengthed the antenna some 4.5 metres using plumbing pipe. WATCH THIS SPACE for developments.
