Where are They Now?Each CJF newsletter will feature profiles on former scholastic journalists. Noelle Fedora Broyles, 1976Noelle graduated with a B.S.N. in nursing from the University of Florida and worked at Shands Hospital as a pediatric and oncology nurse. She created the amputee nurse clinician position at Duke University where she works with orthopedia and oncology patients. She published an article about adaption post amputation in Orthopedic Nursing and developed a “New Amputee” education booklet which is distributed nationwide. Debbie Greenawalt Rabinowitz, 1976After earning her BS in Recreation at the UF, Debbie is employed by Broward Public Schools as a substitute teacher and volunteer for middle and high schools in Coral Springs. “High school taught me time management and how to meet deadlines.” Linda Alexander Schlosser, 1976Linda graduated from the UF with a B.S. in Health Education. She helped develop and open a nature center in Virginia. “I think frequently about all my high school experiences. Everything comes around, and I am glad to have gone to a great school with many great teachers. I thank them all.” Lori Sims-Alaimo, 1976Lori lives in South Carolina and is the Office Manager for IHOP Restaurants. After high school she owned a graphic arts studio and was employed by local newspapers, magazines and ad agencies. Carol Byers Bendle, 1977After graduating with a B.S. in Printing Production, Carol now is General Manager for Custom Shutters & More. Previously, she built a business and sold it for her retirement! “Yearbook and graphic arts classes taught me to think while being creative. Alyce Culpepper and Dave Smith were very helpful in my choosing the career path that afforded me the opportunities to be successful!” Jean Jacques Benoist, 1977Jean Jacques owns Benoist Studio, Inc., a commercial photography company where he and his wife, Sue, continue their passion of shooting products for catalogues. Going digital in 2003 was a highlight that allowed them to excel in their final product. “Being the photographer in high school confirmed that it was what I wanted to do. Alyce kept me in line (‘til my senior year). Dave Smith (graphics) was instrumental in proving this was what I wanted to do.” Randy Eaton, 1977After retiring from being a firefighter, Randy now drives a motorcoach for a Busch driver in the NASCAR series and is located in North Carolina. Curt Erickson, 1977After graduating from the Art Institute, Curt now is an illustrator for Honeywell in Phoenix, Arizona. He designed the cover of the 1977 SPHS yearbook. Karrie Klimas, 1987Karrie majored in Human Resources at Florida Southern. Currently she is an Administrative Assistant for Auto Nation in Fort Lauderdale. She also is a Party Lite consultant. Benjamin Crump, 1987Ben majored in Criminal Justice at FSU. He is a partner in the Parks and Crump law firm that just won the boot camp wrongful death case. His focus is helping people have a voice in courtrooms that would not otherwise have a voice.
