- There is mention of an 'Uncle William Whitt'. Details unknown at this time.

- According to Diane E. Day:
- Johnny, Sarah, Sallie and Pink Hugins/Higgins migrated from North Carolina to Tazewell County following the Civil War. John, Sarah, Jennetta, and Pink are listed on the 1880 Tazewell County census; Maiden Spring District; June 10/11, 1880.
- Sarah's first husband (James P. Sparks) was killed in the Civil War. (There are no records to substantiate that claim yet).
- Family tradition states that Sarah's maiden name was SPICER.
