He married Rachel C. Lomax Knox County, Illinois, Aug. 20, 1862. Rachel was born Warren County, Kentucky Aug. 1835. Rachel was the daughter of William Taylor Lomax and Besty Howard. Rachel died 1898 at 62 years of age. At 27 years of age Rachel became the mother of Mary Jewitt Aug. 5, 1863. At 29 years of age Rachel became the mother of Locado Jewitt Feb. 5, 1865. At 31 years of age Rachel became the mother of Orville Jewitt April 23, 1867. At 34 years of age Rachel became the mother of Alva Jewitt Jan. 17, 1870. At 36 years of age Rachel became the mother of Angie Paralee Jewitt Jan. 20, 1872. At 39 years of age Rachel became the mother of Ella Jewitt April 5, 1875.

Alvin became the father of Mary Jewitt Aug. 5, 1863. Alvin became the father of Locado Jewitt Feb. 5, 1865. Alvin became the father of Orville Jewitt April 23, 1867. Alvin became the father of Alva Jewitt Jan. 17, 1870. Alvin became the father of Angie Paralee Jewitt Jan. 20, 1872. Alvin became the father of Ella Jewitt April 5, 1875.

Alvin Jewitt and Rachel C. Lomax had the following children:

3 ii. Locado Jewitt was born Feb. 5, 1865. She married Willie E. DeWeese. Willie was born Feb. 5, 1865. Willie⁽¹⁴²⁾ was the son of Carlin Douglas DeWeese and Mahala Jane Lomax.

4 iii. Orville Jewitt was born April 23, 1867. Orville died Jan. 7, 1869 at 1 year of age.

5 iv. Alva Jewitt was born Jan. 17, 1870.

6 v. Angie Paralee Jewitt was born Jan. 20, 1872.

7 vi. Ella Jewitt was born April 5, 1875.
