1. John Hess¹ Cliffton was born Spring Ranch, Clay County, Nebraska June 4, 1835. John died Dec. 1, 1904 Spring Ranch, Clay County, Nebraska, at 69 years of age. His body was interred aft. Dec. 1, 1904 Spring Ranch, Clay County, Nebraska.

He married Verlinda C. Pool Clifton, Warren County, Illinois, Aug. 14, 1856. Verlinda was born Madison County, Kentucky Sept. 8, 1842. Verlinda was the daughter of John Henry Pool and Temperance G. "Tempe" Lomax. Verlinda died Sept. 1899 Nebraska, at 57 years of age. Her body was interred aft. Sept. 1899 Spring Ranch, Clay County, Nebraska. At 15 years of age Verlinda became the mother of Sarah Elizabeth Cliffton Sullivan County, Missouri, May 8, 1858. At 19 years of age Verlinda became the mother of Oletha Jane Cliffton Knox County, Illinois, March 6, 1862. At 21 years of age Verlinda became the mother of George M. Cliffton Abingdon, Knox County, Illinois, Feb. 6, 1864. At 23 years of age Verlinda became the mother of Edward M. "Eddie" Cliffton Warren County, Illinois, May 30, 1866. At 25 years of age Verlinda became the mother of Solomon Theodore Cliffton June 28, 1868. At 28 years of age Verlinda became the mother of Alwilda Catherine Cliffton March 15, 1871. At 30 years of age Verlinda became the mother of John Wesley Cliffton Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois, Aug. 6, 1873. At 33 years of age Verlinda became the mother of Clarence G. Cliffton June 16, 1876. At 36 years of age Verlinda became the mother of Jessie Hess Cliffton Oct. 10, 1878. At 38 years of age Verlinda became the mother of Emma Lina Cliffton Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois, March 6, 1881.

At 22 years of age John became the father of Sarah Elizabeth Cliffton Sullivan County, Missouri, May 8, 1858. At 26 years of age John became the father of Oletha Jane Cliffton Knox County, Illinois, March 6, 1862. At 28 years of age John became the father of George M. Cliffton Abingdon, Knox County, Illinois, Feb. 6, 1864. At 30 years of age John became the father of Edward M. "Eddie" Cliffton Warren County, Illinois, May 30, 1866. At 33 years of age John became the father of Solomon Theodore Cliffton June 28, 1868. At 35 years of age John became the father of Alwilda Catherine Cliffton March 15, 1871. At 38 years of age John became the father of John Wesley Cliffton Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois, Aug. 6, 1873. At 41 years of age John became the father of Clarence G. Cliffton June 16, 1876. At 43 years of age John became the father of Jessie Hess Cliffton Oct. 10, 1878. At 45 years of age John became the father of Emma Lina Cliffton Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois, March 6, 1881.

2 i. Sarah Elizabeth² Cliffton was born Sullivan County, Missouri May 8, 1858. Sarah died Sept. 14, 1938 Yuma, Colorado, at 80 years of age. She married William Henry Spears Sullivan County, Missouri, June 11, 1874. William was born Sullivan County, Missouri abt. 1858. At 17 years of age William became the father of Clara Belle Spears Aug. 30, 1875. At 18 years of age William became the father of Lou Emma Spears April 7, 1877. At 20 years of age William became the father of Harry Otis Spears Jan. 13, 1879. At 22 years of age William became the father of Sherman Spears July 19, 1880. At 26 years of age William became the father of Charles William Spears July 31, 1884. At 28 years of age William became the father of Floyd Agustus Spears Rawlins, Kansas, July 14, 1886. At 28 years of age William became the father of Bessie Spears Dec. 29, 1886. At 30 years of age William became the father of Alice Verlinda Spears May 16, 1889. At 33 years of age William became the father of Bertha Grace Spears Sept. 16, 1891. At 35 years of age William became the father of Ralph Eugene Spears Rawlins, Kansas, April 12, 1894. At 17 years of age Sarah became the mother of Clara Belle Spears Aug. 30, 1875. At 18 years of age Sarah became the mother of Lou Emma Spears April 7, 1877. At 40 years of age Sarah became the mother of Hattie Florence Spears July 21, 1898.

3 ii. Oletha Jane Cliffton was born Knox County, Illinois March 6, 1862. Oletha died May 18, 1876 at 14 years of age.

5 iv. Edward M. "Eddie" Cliffton was born Warren County, Illinois May 30, 1866. Edward died May 7, 1940 Longview, Washington, at 73 years of age. He married Julia Sperry Fairfield, Clay County, Nebraska, Dec. 18, 1889.

+ 6 v. Solomon Theodore Cliffton was born June 28, 1868.

7 vi. Alwilda Catherine Cliffton was born March 15, 1871. Alwilda died May 9, 1876 at 5 years of age.

8 vii. John Wesley Cliffton was born Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois Aug. 6, 1873. John died June 16, 1943 at 69 years of age. He married Rose Amelia Zesch.

9 viii. Clarence G. Cliffton was born June 16, 1876. Clarence died April 21, 1937 at 60 years of age. He married Mary R. Unknown abt. 1895.

10 ix. Jessie Hess Cliffton was born Oct. 10, 1878. Jessie died June 28, 1884 at 5 years of age.

11 x. Emma Lina Cliffton was born Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois March 6, 1881. Emma died May 15, 1932 at 51 years of age. She married John King Oct. 8, 1901.
