Obedience Titles for Mixed-Breed Dogs

Just like the owners of purebred dogs, owners of mixed-breed dogs have several options for earning obedience titles.

The American Mixed-Breed Obedience Registration (AMBOR) was established in 1983 as the first organization to offer obedience titles for mixed-breed dogs. In 1994, AMBOR reached an agreement with the United Kennel Club (UKC) to allow mixed-breed dogs in UKC events. Dogs must be registered with UKC to participate.

Registered mixed-breed dogs can show at Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) obedience trials as well.

The Mixed Breed Dog Clubs of America (MBDCA) is a non-profit dog club and national registry for owners of mixed-breed dogs. All dogs registered must be spayed or neutered. MBDCA awards titles in obedience, tracking, and other dog competitions. The obedience titles are MB-CD, MB-CDX, MB-UD, MB-UDX. Also, handicapped purebred dogs may compete with a verterinarian’s certificate stating the dog is capable of doing the work. Titles are earned by competing at fun matches under MBDCA approved judges.
