Welcome to The New England Nanny Net

The New England Nanny Net is a place for nannies to meet, talk, share and to learn. After surfing the web we could not find many sites just for nannies and the children they watch. So we put up this site. We hope every nanny who comes here will find it useful and continue to come back often.

About Carla

I have been a nanny for almost 13 years now. I have always wanted to be a nanny. When I was young I used to babysit in church and had several regular jobs in my neighborhood. After high school I worked at several jobs but switched to the nanny profession at the age of 20.

My first job was in New Jersey. I watched a one year old and a two year old. I really enjoyed being their nanny and decided I wanted to continue being a nanny but closer to a big city. It was then that I moved to the Boston area and got my second job watching a six year old, a two year old and a newborn.

After a year and a half at that job I decided I wanted to try being a live out nanny. I got a job with a family with two boys, ages 18 months and 4. They were also expecting a little girl, this was a plus for me since I had only watched boys before. I am still with this family, the boys are 11 and 14 and the little girl is 9.

Being a nanny is a lot of hard work but if both the nanny and the family work together it can prove to be a very rewarding profession.

About Michelle

Hello I have been in the nanny profession since 1984 right after I graduated high school. I sort of fell into "NANNYING" My first nanny job was when I was in my junior year of high school. I was helping out a family who were family friends, the husband and wife were working night and day shifts and needed someone early morning and late evenings. So I filled in. That is when I learned of the profession actually. My second nanny job wasn't exactly a good experience it wasn't horrific but it wasn't smooth sailing either. So I quit that job and 3 days later started another and have been here ever since. That was 13 years ago. When I started the kids were 5, and 8, and yet to be born. Now they are 21, 18, and 11, 2 girls and 1 boy.

For the most part the job has been enjoyable! I also feel that nannies as a whole have a bad rap-as in people think we have easy jobs, and that most of us are uneducated hicks........Hopefully this web page will prove that Nannies are not lounging around eating bonbons, and that we are as educated any one is any other profession!
