To all outward appearances ToTo, Quaker Parrot, is a handicapped bird. Unfortunately and tragically, he was the victim of a cat attack in his previous home. Many surgeries were required to repair his injuries and his owner did everything she could to try and give him back a quality of life. His resulting handicapps were one leg severed at mid femur, leaving him a stump and one remaining leg with 3 amputated toes, he has one toe left with a nail.
ToTo's owner sought to place him where his priorities and needs would be met. ToTo needs flat perches and platforms for all of his activities and daily interaction to stimulate his "big" bird attitude. He sleeps in his "hut" where he feels very secure and retreats there, if he chooses to play hide and seek !
I have never seen such a bird who had no idea there was something "wrong" with him. He cheerfully greets everyone who approaches him, and challenges every situation with courage and character. So much big bird personality and attitude packed into that little green, altered body.
ToTo: King of all he sees and lets you know, too! In fact that camera looks like I have to beat it up ! Who Me? Handicapped? Not on your life!!
