Support Collection Unit- the part of the child support enforcement program responsible for collection, monitoring, and disbursement of support payments. Support Hearing- a proceeding to examine the facts regarding financial support for a child. Support Order- a court order establishing a child support obligation. TANF(Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)- a category of public assistance paid on behalf of children who are deprived of one or both parents by reason of death, disability or continued absence from the home. Violation Petition- a formal written application to a court requesting judicial action on the matter of non-payment of court-ordered child support. Voluntary Acknowledgment of Paternity- a form, which if signed by the mother and putative father of a child, establishes paternity of the child without a court hearing.
