Hi! My name is Pratik Thaker. I am 13 years old, and a 9th standard student of The Cambridge High School, Dubai (U.A.E.). Since the beginning of my studies till now I have stood first in my class, and my standard. I even received a Gold Medal from the school for Academic Excellence.

Since I was little, I have nurtured many hobbies, and I have been featured in many newspapers, magazines, and on TV programs for this.

At the age of year 5, I was first featured in Junior News (a weekly magazine) on 13/05/92 for Origami (the art of paper folding). At that age I knew how to fold 360 different things from paper, by heart. After that for the same thing I was featured on the Sharjah TV.

In 1991, I changed my taste from Origami to Jigsaw Puzzles. I solved a few puzzles. The total of all the pieces were 7260 pieces. I later discovered that at that time world record was of up to 8000 pieces. After knowing this, I wrote to the Guinness Book people about this. To my delight, they came to Dubai (U.A.E) to congratulate me because world record holder was 29 years old and I was 10 years old at that time. But unfortunately, mine was not considered a world record because I was 740 pieces behind the world record. The local newspapers Gulf News and Khaleej Times had featured me for the same on 18/03/97 and 23/03/97, respectively. I was also featured on Sharjah TV for the same.

Then, I changed my hobby to Models. I constructed many various models. One of the local weekly magazine, Young Times, featured me with the title "The boy with magic hands" on 12/08/97.

Yet once more I changed my hobby and started making Pop-up cards by hand. After making several cards, again Gulf News featured me on 17/01/98.

My parents were very happy, and so were my class teacher and my principal. So they arranged a "One boy exhibition". In this exhibition, all my work was displayed, and also a few of my 3D Puzzles, another of my hobby that I had developed, were displayed. This exhibition was then covered by one leading fort-nightly magazine, U Magazine on 16/04/99.

My latest hobby is now web-page designing, and I am also enjoying that!
