Jigsaw puzzles are made when a picture is cut into many various
pieces. Each of the pieces is cut in such a way, that it only interlocks
with another particular piece, and with no other piece. So the more the
pieces, the more difficult the puzzle. This is because, your odds of
finding 1 piece in a 100 piece puzzle is 1/100, but your ods of finding
1 piece in a 1000 piece puzzle are 1/1000.
I am so good at puzzles, that I nearly broke the world record! Honestly.
The world record for the largest Jigsaw puzzle solved is 8000 pieces,
by a 29 year old gentleman, within the course of 1 month. I finished
7260 pieces, and I was only 11 at that time! The only glitch was that I
had to finish the puzzle in front of the 'Guinness Book of World
Records Panel', and since I had not known that I was breaking the
world record at that time, I had not contacted them. I am planning to try
again.
For the same reason, I have come in many newspapers and
magazines.
I have solved many types of puzzles, ranging from borderless to
confusing ones. By confusing I mean real confusing. Imagine solving a
550 piece puzzle that is a close-up of a pile of pop-corn! I've done it!
And, to tell you the truth, it was fun! I will give you more information
about the puzzles that I have done, and I'll also scan a few pictures of
my puzzles.
But for the time being, I have this sort of a puzzle below. It will give you
a rough idea of puzzles, though it is quite easier than real life puzzles.
This is because, first of all, this is a puzzle with a very few pieces. On
top of that, in the puzzle below, the pieces spring into place once the
piece is brought close. This is not the case with real life puzzles, where
pieces do not spring into place. And neither do the puzzles in real life
explode once they are completed! Have a go at the puzzle below,
you'll have fun! But take care, if you drag a piece out of the area,,you'll have to reload the page to get all the pieces back. So don't loose any pieces! (By the way, you will need a plug-in for this. Please do download it, it takes practically no time at all. And as soon as I learn Java, I'll turn it into a Java applet, so you won't be needing any plug-ins to view it. But till then, enjoy!!!)
Fun, wasn't it?
