Instruction
Classes
We do not generally offer introductory classes in the three modern fencing weapons (foil, sabre, and epee). It is much better to get introductory training through a series of private lessons.
However, club fencing master David Glaeser frequently offers classes at the intermediate or advanced levels in all three fencing weapons as well as in historical weapons, such as rapier-and-dagger and hand-and-a-half sword. He also gives classes in directing and armory. When classes are scheduled, they take place on Thursday nights at 7:30 PM and usually last for one to two hours. One-hour classes are $8 each; 90-minute classes are $16 each.
Private Lessons
David offers private lessons at a rate of $20. He can give lessons at the club during club hours, or at his home at other times during the week. David has an introductory package of 12 lessons for $240, which includes equipment rental. He requires a time commitment of two lessons per week.
Jessie Glaeser has studied with David for over 15 years and offers introductory lessons in foil, epee, and sabre. Jessie's lessons are $18 each. Jessie's introductory lesson package of 12 lessons is $216, which includes equipment rental. She also requires a time commitment of two lessons per week.
Fencing lessons can also be obtained from certain club members who have been designated official instructors.
