Pars Fans

Try out the pre-season QUESTIONNAIRRE &let us know how you think this season will go...

Pars Fans Here, Pars Fans There...

Pars Fans number between 5 and 6 thousand for most home games (although in the last decade we've had up to 12000 at big games) and about 1000 for away games (depending on where we're going).

We're around 8th now in Scotland in terms of crowd size, but were as high as 5th in the late 80s (behind the Old Firm, Aberdeen & Hearts)

"Football is like socialism ... without the politics"
Bill Shankly

I'm a great believer in the community of football fans, and I don't make claims that Pars Fans are better or worse than any other set of supporters (or at least I don't make such claims when sober...). I think that if we all understood that Berwick Rangers supporters love their club exactly as much as Glasgow Rangers fans love theirs, then we'd be on the road to seeing football as the great unifying force it can be (ever travelled with the Tartan Army?).

Anyway, enough of the football-as-socialism metaphor. I've included a page of links to other Pars websites, and also some other clubs/fans/general football stuff.

You only sing when you're singing...

Pars Fans utilise most of the regular (ex-)terrace chants, adapted to our club as is the norm, but we also have some of our own. Viz:

East End Bounce

The following is sung/screamed by an individual,
and everyone else repeats each line after him:

Everywhere we go
People want to know
Who we are
So we tell them
Who we are
The Athletic
    (pronounced Ath-e-le-tic)
Best in Fife
So we are
We're all singing

(everyone together)
Let's all do the East End Bounce
(cue mass pogo-ing)Tra la la lala la la
Let's all do it once again
(more mass pogo-ing)Tra la la lala la la

D.A. no.1

The following is sung/chanted to the tune of
the Village People/Pet Shop Boys' Go West. Not difficult to remember...

D.A. are the number one
D.A. are the number one

... ad infinitum

Away Away

Sung to the tune of Ole Ole. Another mind-racker...

Away, away away away,
We are the Pars
We are the Pars

We also sing most of the other (adapted to be non-sectarian, ex-old firm) Scottish football songs: For it's a grand old team, Hello Hello! etc.

Pars email discussion list

There is a listserv-driven email discussion group for DAFC fans. The list was started about 1995 by Tracey Haldane, but is now run by a coalition and features (as of  July 99) over 120 members. The quality of content varies, and there is a list-member football team which seems to take up too much space, but the match reports are always interesting and very occasionally there are intelligent & reasoned debates (read: slagging matches). No flaming, just piss-takes.

Anyway, if you fancy giving it a try, you'll need an email address. Then send an email to pars-subscribe@lists.pcug.co.uk. You'll be contacted by the listserver & asked to confirm. Typical traffic is between 6 and 30 messages per day. More at weekends.
