Sheep Creek
We turn off of Highway 6 in Spanish Fork Canyon at the old Ceder Haven Resort and head north towards Strawberry Reservoir on USFS051. Approximately 12 miles up this road we arrive at our campsite. Opening morning of the general rifle buck deer hunt has found Kantor Klan members headed north on this road in the dark, this time, on their Honda Foreman's. Each of the 3 different years has provided a differnt riding environment. One year about 6" of new-fallen snow was on the ground and more coming. The other years were dry and dusty late autuimn mornings. 2 miles up the road at the top of a small summit we turn off and head east down into the rough towards the Tie-Fork area. We soon learn the significance of the name Sheep Creek as it is a terrain for sheep, mountain sheep. The area we head into has much to offer in variety. One year we drive into a winter wonderland complete with all Jack Frost's amenities.

This is what we woke up to opening morning of the 1996 deer hunt.
There wasn't a flake of snow on the ground when we went to bed.
The other years we had dry and dusty late autumn mornings. Another year the dugway road turns into a mud bog approximently 12-18" deep. Another year we travel in dust that completely coats us with our own personal soil samples.

This is what the ground looked like opening morning of the 1997 deer hunt.
We had a lot of rain that year.
