This research centre is established in order to maintain a high quality of research activity in the University. This centre take aware of the society demand and the science and technology progress. The maintain this qauality, this centre evaluate research works in the university which is done and planned to be done.
In order to maintain its works, this centre has some department which is responsible to a specific problem:

 Research centre for environment (Head : Dr. Ir. Harijono, M.App.Sc.)
 Research centre for demography (Head: dr. Tatong Harijanto MSPH)
 Research centre for rural development (Head: Dr. Ir. Soemarno, M.S.)
 Research centre for social sciences (Head: Sucipto, S.H., M.S.)
 Research centre for woman (Head: Dr. Ir. Keppi Sukesi)

The financial resource of the research activities is gained from the national budget, community, industry, as well as international funds. Some of the financial resources are Ford Foundation, International Development Research Center (IDRC), Netherlands University Foundation For International Cooperation (NUFFIC), International Development Program (IDP, Australia), Monbusho (Jepang), Commission of European Countries (CEC), Agriculture Research Management Project (ARMP), Applied Agriculture Research Project (AARP), Indonesian Scientific Research Centre (LIPI).
