Kolej
MARA Seremban is an A-level and IB centre in Seremban, the capital
city of Negeri Sembilan in Malaysia. Situated in the scenic Lake Gardens,
it has the distinction of being the first MARA college to be established
in 1972. KMS was formerly known as Seremban MARA Junior Science College
which ran a secondary school programme. Later, this was replaced by the
A Level programme, after which its name was changed to Kolej MARA Seremban,
offering matriculation courses run by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. From
2000 onwards, KMS offered the matriculation programme under the Ministry
of Education(MOE) after the MOE was tasked with coordinating and
standardising all matriculation programmes. The last batch of matriculation students left in March 2005. In place of the matriculation programme, KMS now offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme. In addition, KMS also has an A-Level programme, which was re-introduced in 2002.
The English Language Department teaches IELTS to A-Level students and English Standard Level to IB students.
The IELTS syllabus is skills-based and is a requirement for entrance into universities in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The test is graded according to Band descriptors ranging from 1 (the lowest) to 9 (the highest). Students need to score at least a Band 6 to be considered for entrance.
KMS
is headed by our esteemed Principal, Puan Hajjah Padzilah Othman and four Heads of Department. It has a teaching staff
of more than 50, all of whom are university graduates.
