CHORUS
Freeburg High School has a long tradition of having a group of singers with varying talent. Throughout the year in this class, a great amount of activities and lessons are encountered. Many skills are learned before singing before an audience at the first public concert. Students learn how to read music, use vocal techniques (breathing techniques, vocalizes, and drills on consonant/vowel formation), preparation for possible future study, styles, and periods. Performance is vital as well. Their first performance is at the Christmas Concert in early December. They have been caroling at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows as well this time of year. After that, the chorus prepares for the Winter Concert as well as the IHSA Solo/Ensemble Contest. Students will voluntarily sing a solo or sing with an ensemble. Once this is past, it is time for organizational contest. This happens normally on the same weekend as the Spring Concert. At this concert, the director gives the
Arion Award to a deserving Senior singer. The student's peers vote upon this prize.[NEWS | CALENDAR | ROSTER | MULTIMEDIA | PICTURES]
