"Peter" Mathis abt. 1861. W. was born Jefferson County, Alabama June 23, 1831. W. was the son of William Mathis Jr. and Jane Gillison Harris. At 29 years of age W. became the father of Sarah Mathis Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1860. At 30 years of age W. became the father of William H. "Little Pete" Mathis Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1861. At 32 years of age W. became the father of Margaret Mathis Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1863. At 36 years of age W. became the father of Nancy Ellen Mathis Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1867. (See W. H. "Peter" Mathis for the continuation of this line.)

At 18 years of age Margaret became the mother of Sarah Mathis Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1860. At 19 years of age Margaret became the mother of William H. "Little Pete" Mathis Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1861. At 21 years of age Margaret became the mother of Margaret Mathis Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1863. At 25 years of age Margaret became the mother of Nancy Ellen Mathis Chickasaw County, Mississippi, 1867.
