GRIFFITH SANDERLIN married SUSAN(or Susanah) SAWYER, daughter of Charles Sawyer of Camden Co., NC, in 1812. Susannah was also the sister of Zaddoc Sawyer of Randolph Co.,GA, my GGGgrandfather. This family takes an interesting turn here. My grandparents were 4th cousins, Granny from the Sanderlin side and Grandaddy was a Sawyer. Griffith and Susannah had 2 children: 1. Lemuel Sanderlin 2. *James Tracey Sanderlin Susan died about 1825 and Griffith married 2nd wife, Alipha (or Alphia) Seymore (?-1837). Children by Alipha: Haywood Bell, Susan, Edmond, Willis, Martha, and Griffith, Jr. Lemuel Sanderlin mar. Mary Jane Sawyer (daughter of Zadock, his first cousin). Lemuel fought in the Confederacy in Co., B, Reg 47, GA Infantry. He was captured and died as a POW in Rock Island, IL. They had 5 children: 1. Francis Marion 1855-1922 2. Martha Elizabeth 1856-1893 3. Willie David 1858-1934 4. Zadock 1859-? 5. Lemuel W. 1861-1891 *James T. Sanderlin married Olivia Barbre or Barber in GA. Both were born in NC according to census.
