GOD LOVES YOU and has a purpose for your life. He loved you even before you realized He was there. He made you for Himself and He wants a relationship with you. He demonstrated His love for us in this:"While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
God loves you and me more than we will ever know or understand. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
God offers us salvation through Jesus only. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord," (Romans 6:23) When Jesus died on the cross, His Blood paid for your sins and mine.
- The first thing you have to do is admit that you are a sinner. Sin is when you choose to do your own thing, go your own way instead of being obedient to God. "As it is written, There is no one righteous, not even one." (Romans 3:10) "there is no one who does good, not even one." (Romans 3:12b) "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) We are all unable, on our own, to meet God's requirements for getting into Heaven. So express your sorrow to God for the things you have done in your life that have not been pleasing to Him. Ask Him to forgive your sins and they will be forgiven. Be willing to turn away from a life of sin.
- Next you need to realize that you cannot earn your way to Heaven. You cannot save yourself. You cannot get there through your own merits (works), by nothing you say or do or through any sort of man-made program. You cannot get to Heaven by belonging to a particular church or by being a "good" person. Jesus paid the price on the cross to get you there. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9) "he saved us, not because of righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy." (Titus 3:5)
- What you need to do now is realize and accept that Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross removed the barrier of sin between you and God. Jesus died for your sins, taking your punishment upon Himself. Your debt has been paid in full! "he Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed." (1 Peter 2:24) God did for you in Jesus Christ what you cannot do for yourself. "But God demonstrates His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) The Bible also says that, "God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." (2 Corinthians 5:21) Jesus had no sin in Him. He took upon Himself your sins and mine and died on the cross to pay our debt.
- Jesus died to give the gift of eternal life to everyone. If you give a gift to someone, that person has to receive the gift, right? Like all gifts, this gift will have no value to it unless you receive it for yourself. By faith, receive Jesus Christ into your heart. Faith is complete trust in what Jesus has done for you, without adding anything else and through no effort of your own. "For it is by grace you have been save, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9) The only faith that saves is complete faith in Jesus Christ. "...Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved..." (Acts 16:31a) So receive this gift. "Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12) This gift will energize you to respond by attending church, reading your Bible, doing good works, etc.
This is how you can receive your free gift.
