MY GRANDMOTHER

My memories of Grandmother are nothing but Grand to say the least. I remember her as if it were yesterday. She was a strong Lady, born in the 1860s in Tenn. While she was still an infant her parents passed away so she was raised by her older sister in South East Missouri. Her sisters Husband was a US Marshall and a circuit riding Methodist Preacher. Grandmother was around 15yrs old when she met and married Jake,(Grandpa). They traveled around the state of Arkansas and worked in the Timber logging and for the Railroad, farmed and at the same time had several children, I think about a dozen or so. I only knew 3 of them, my father being one of them. When I was small Grandma seem very old to me but as I grew older I realized that she was still young at heart. She wasn't a large lady but she had beautiful white hair that she would sit and brush and brush before retiring for the night. I don't think she ever wore out a pair of shoes because she never wore them unless she was going to town, which wasn't often. Up until just a few years before her death she heated with coal and cooked on a wood stove. No one could make biscuits or cornbread like Grandmother made on that stove, and I can't remember ever going to her house but what there were not biscuits and homemade jelly on the table. I in particular loved her homemade dumplins, she called them slipaways because you couldn't pick more than one up at a time or they would slip off your fork. Grandmother went blind a couple of years before passing but the one thing she never lost was her since of Humor. I have a cousin that reminds me of her alot and when I see her or even my own Daughter I hear Grandma. Grandma couldn't tell you a story without laughing I don't think and she had a story. I'll see her again someday and when I do the first thing I'll ask is, Grandma got any biscuits.

If Your Grandmother is still living, what ever you do, don't miss a trip to Grandmothers House.

THIS IS MY MOM, SHE'S A GRANDMOTHER ALSO

LILLIAN

THIS IS THE COAT OF ARMS OF THE SIDES FAMILY MY MOTHER'S MOTHER

Born February 29, 1908 in Rector,Arkansas, Mom, or Grandma as she is lovingly referred to, has had 94 years but only celebrated 23 real birthdays. When asked to what she contributes her long life, she would not hesitate to tell you it is clean living and the Grace of her Lord and Saviour, JESUS CHRIST. She met Him face to face on June 5th 2002.

Lillian had two children, Pat & Bill who have given her four grandchildren, Wayne,Michael,Kevin,& Christina (Chrissie). She also has four great-grandchildren,Jeremiah, Sammy, Lana & Crystal. The newest is Colin Lee, her first Great Great Grand Son born in Dec 1998.

Mom married Dad at a very young age. They were together for 32yrs, until Dad passed away at the age of 52 from complications caused by working in the lead mines of N.E.Okla. Dad was also a Baptist minister. In 1959 Mom married Ellis who was also a Baptist minister. Ellis passed away in 1966. In 1972 she married a Retired Banker. Gene passed away in 1986. I would like to say that all three were wonderful husbands to her and they were all good fathers to us kids.

THEN THERE'S MARY, THE GRANDMOTHER I CALL MY WIFE

Mary was born in SW Missouri, in the same town that President Harry S. Truman was born. Mary was a widow when I met her about 11 years ago and we were married the following year. She has 3 Sons and 1 Daughter. She now has 8 grandchildren, one that was born July 9,1998. The oldest is 20 now and very pretty and grown up young lady. Four of them have been born since we were married so they think I am their real Granddad. I hope all the grandchildren think of me as granddad because I love them all as if they were my own. Mary is very proud of everyone of them, as she should be. We don't get to see them as much as we would like but maybe someday we will be able to retire and go visit them one at a time, spoil them and go to the next one. She is a wonderful Wife, Mother and Grandmother.
