The Windows of St. Ambrose are the distinguishing architectural feature of our parish. The inspiration of the windows had many sources, including Sister Jeanette, a Daughter of Charity of the Cosgriff School. The themes of the windows were chosen by Monsignor Vaughan, who also assisted in the choice of the symbols. The windows were constructed by the Glassart Company of Scottsdale, Arizona with Glidden Parker as the principal artist.
The following ten pages present our windows and tell the stories within the symbols. Along with the warm glow they provide to our nave, the windows remind us of God's love and power.
Two windows are not depicted in this collection. On each side of the choir box are windows paying tribute to St. Ambrose, patron saint of learning. While not in plain sight of the church, they brighten the loft and compliment the beauty of the music during Mass.
To aptly portray the beauty of the windows on the web, we used large JPEG files (34-56K) best viewed using 800x600 32-bit color. Loading, therefore, may take some time. However, if you would rather not wait, you can turn off your graphics in your browser and print the text from the pages. Then come visit St. Ambrose to experience the radiance the windows provide.
