I've added a couple more exterior photos to this page because I've had several e-mails asking about our porch. We're still struggling to get our landscaping done before the snow flies again.

Here is the house viewed from the lake side. There's a lot of porch here, some of it screened in. Our plan did not show a separate porch outside of our bedroom, but that became a necessity when our foundation ended up being so high. This additional porch created an awkward cranny in the design and I think the house looks intimidating because it sits so high. But what could we do - while excavating the basement we struck water and compensated by adding a couple more blocks to the height.

This shows a little of the porch detail. The fish is Mr. Pike. We use him as a birdfeeder, but so far only the squirrels have discovered this.

More porch detail. The window on the left is the dining area window and straight ahead is the door to the screened-in portion of the porch.

This isn't the best photo of the exterior, but shows the location of the garage to the house. For a better picture of just the front porch area click here. BTW, we worked with Robinson Residential Design to customize one of his VERY IMPRESSIVE craftsman style home plans just for us. Please check his site out, he does beautiful design work.

This is the back of the house. Again, it's hard to get a good picture right now. We haven't cleared anything on the lake side of the house. You can see the balcony that's off of the loft upstairs. To see an interior picture of the loft click here.

Here is a section of the back porch.

OK, this is the left side of the house. From left to right you see the screen porch, kitchen window, and laundry room / mud room entrance with lots of front porch. To see this side of the porch and the side of the garage that faces the lake click here. And to see the opposite side of the house (the master bedroom area that was added to the base plan) click here.

Finally, just a couple of interior shots. This is a part of the change that was made to our house plan. Looking out from the master bedroom towards the front entrance. Between the master bedroom and the front door on the left is a computer nook. What you can't see in the picture are the bookshelves that form a division between the entrance and living room. To reverse this picture and look from the front entrance to the bedroom and to see that divider click here. To look from the living room across the shelves to the computer nook click here.
