17. The following information was recently discovered, and it has been added to the beginning of chapter one's section concerning Isaac Ricks1, of Isle of Wight County:

"Another early record possibly identifying Isaac Ricks in the Virginia area is an abstract colonial record found in survey report number 1015,1 the abstract entry dated 1 November 1679, from the Meeting of Sufferings, signed by "Is. Rickeshue (?)." Since no other known person with a similar name associated with the early Quaker church in Virginia, this was most likely Isaac Ricks, and the records suggests that Isaac was well involved in community affairs by that year. Other names appearing on the same 1679 record page were Francis Denson, Thomas Jordan, Roger Newham, George Whitehead, G. Wilson, and Witt Yarrett. A previously revealed 1638 importation record for Richard Ricks [see p.2], of James City County, containing the name "James Whitehead." The Whitehead surname in this record is additional evidence to weigh when considering a possible connection between Isaac and Richard Ricks."
