 EWTN

Mother Angelica's Eternal Word Television Network come to the internet; an Adoremus site with a huge and useful on-line library, recent news releases, and other things. Perhaps become a principal on-line resource for Catholics 'surfing the net'.

 CCEL Patristics

Patristics (writings of the Church fathers) page in the more general Christian Classics Ethereal Library site (which site contains various writings from certain doctors and saints among the pagan, and Protestant, and what have you). I believe the footnotes are missing from various of the Patristic writings, and that individual and more complete documents might be found elsewhere, at EWTN's library, and so on (but maybe it's not the case with the footnotes, either - don't know).

 Catholic Encyclopedia

The New Advent on-line Catholic Encyclopedia, from the 1913 edition. Article after article after . . . lots of stuff. Also extensive on-line documents from the Church Fathers. [note: appears to be extraneous material from other sources, such as an extensive entry under, Ecumenism. Might be best to compare any edited article here with the source text, say from a library loan.]

Anti-liberal articles by the like of the Helen Hitchcock, Fr. Fessio of Ignatius Press, and other Adoremus folk. 'Conservative' consternation at the changes in the name of Vatican II, but yet a firm defense of all council documents, pretty much as doctrinal, and particularly of the Novus Ordo; or any 'novus ordo', perhaps. See the FAQ.

Influential quarterly magazine, describing the latest goings on in the struggle between traditionalists and the rear guard of reform, as it were, along with various articles on all sorts of related topics, from some of the best writers around. Also, of late, they have incorported a separate but related magazine, Sursum Corda (here's a few old on-line articles), as a special section in the middle of The Latin Mass magazine, making the two for one even more worth the subscription. As of late 2002, only 15 selected articles from the magazine are actually on-line.

 Missals

Fair number of places, now, to get the old Latin Missals.

    • Mass booklets from Coalition Ecclesia Dei, with prayers for before Mass in front, and many for afterward (incl. those of Pope Leo) in back, along with Gregorian chant notation for the main sung prayers of Mass, prayers for Benediction of The Blessed Sacrament, and more.

    • the Fr. Juergens New Marian Daily Missal, mostly English/Latin throughout

    • the 1945 Lasance Missal, English/Latin throughout (the gold edging on the pages tends to flake off too easily - hopefully they'll get it fixed one day)

    • the 1952 St. Andrews Missal, preferred by many, with the typ. Andrews Missal brief biographies for the Saints of the day

    • try the Used Catholic Books (St. Stephen's) list

    • and there's usually a bunch of 1950s and earlier missals listed for sale on ebay
