We enjoy building miniature models.

In 1998, we built a 1" scale dollhouse cottage.  This is the "Buttercup Cottage".  We got it from Hobby Builders Supply.  They're great!  Visit them at http://www.miniatures.com for ordering all sorts of miniature dollhouse and furniture kits, supplies, everything you need to build, decorate and furnish the project of your dreams!

bounty.jpg (13679 bytes) Mike just finished a scale model of H.M.S. Bounty.  Our next projects have been handmade birdhouses.  Some of our friends collect them, and it looked like a fun project!

As soon as we are tired of birhouses, we will start the next dollhouse project: a 1" scale two-room town-house (a double roombox, also from Hobby Builders Supply!)  We have plans in mind for a grand, three-story Victorian mansion (modified from a kit available at Hobby Builders!)  I've been collecting furniture for it over the years, and I've got nearly every room furnished.  Now all I need is a house to put all the furniture in!

In my spare time, I enjoy reading science fiction novels (mostly Star Wars and Star Trek), and doing needlework of all kinds.   Lately I have learned how to crochet.  I even made three baby afghans for one of Mike's college buddies, whose wife had triplets (!) in 1999.  But my favorite "hobby" is singing.  In addition to singing tenor in the church choir, I sing bass in a local chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an international non-profit organization dedicated to acapella vocal music education for women, using barbershop-style four-part harmony.  My 20-voice chorus competes every spring in the Region 25 Competition in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Region 25 includes Oklahoma, Arkansas, southwest Missouri, northwest Louisiana, and the North Central and Panhandle areas of Texas.  For the fourth time in its five year history, my chorus won 2nd Place among Small Choruses (those under 35 members).
