There is no excuse to be bored in Guildford. The town has a wide selection of pubs, nightclubs, restaurants, modern leisure centre, theatre's and a multi-screen cinema.

The pubs are fairly evenly spread around the town centre, with the main concentration being south of the town bridge. There is also several new large pub chains on Bridge street.

There are French, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai and Cantonese restaurants in the town, although most of the larger pubs now also do a good variety of food. There are two popular French restaurants on the corner of Castle and Chapel streets.

In 1997 a new 9 screen Odeon cinema opened on the site of the old leisure centre on Bedford road.
Since 1992 The Spectrum leisure centre has been open on part of Stoke Park. There is an Olympic size swimming pool, 10 pin bowling, gym and sports hall facilities for basketball, football, squash and badminton. There is also a full size ice rink which is the home of the Guildford Flames professional ice hockey club.
