Charles Herod Shepard CRONKRITE, who is the first of this line that we know anything about, was born 15 July 1843 in Clifton Park, Saratoga Co., NY,> the son of Joseph G. CRONKRITE and Phebe CALDWELL. He died 3 October 1916 in Tomahawk, Lincoln Co., WI. He married Elizabeth Abigail FURMAN in 1863 in Schenectady, NY. She was born 20 December 1845 in Schenectady and died 14 March 1921 in Merrill, WI.

There is a story that my huband, Rick, heard from his Grandfather, Charles Henry Cronkrite that CRONRITE started out as CRONK but the family argued about buried treasure in Europe and part of the family took the name CRONKRITE because they were "rite". I would be interested in hearing if anyone else has heard this story.

Mary Ann HAYNER was the daughter of Henry Hayner, born 23 June 1780, and Nancy EDDY, born 21 January 1782. Henry and Nancy had 9 children.

  3. Tisdale E. HAYNER, born 28 July 1808 and died 27 March 1887.
  4. Hannah HAYBER, born 15 August 1810 and died 2 June 1877 and married ? Knowlton.
  5. Emily HAYNER, born 14 March 1814 and died 11 May 1851, age 37 years.
  6. Lana HAYNER, born 1 April 1816 and died 10 March 1898.
  7. Sibyl HAYNER, born 29 July 1818 and died 27 December 1898.
  8. Cynthia HAYNER, born 12 August 1820 and died less then a year later on 18 February 1821.
  9. Zechariah HAYNER, born 22 March 1822 and died 6 January 1857 at 35 years.

  8. Ernest Bonapart CRONKRITE, was born 23 December 1870 in Hannibal, Ralls Co., MO and died 1 June 1959 in Hollywood, CA. He married first Jane Elizabeth(Jennie)DIBB on 10 January 1892 in Tomahawk, Lincoln, WI. She was born 18 September 1872 in New Lisbon, Juneau, WI, and died 6 September 1935 in Tomahawk, WI. She was the daughter of John Dibb and Amanda Melvina REED. Ernest married twice more. His 3rd wife was Laura and she was blind.



John DIBB was born 20 September 1828 in Sproatley, Swine, Yorkshire, England and died in 1925 in IN. Amanda Melvina REED was born 1 March 1842 in Waterford Twp, Erie, PA and died 11 May 1917 in New Lisbon, Juneau, WI. John and Amanda were married 24 March 1869. They had 5 children.
