Ida Vogel

Ida's parents were Fred Vogel and Margaret Isabel Beck.

Ida was married twice, her first husband was Ira Hall, they had one daughter
Lillian Marguriette (Marge).

They divorced when Lillian was just a baby. When Lillian was about
6 years old Ida married a second time.

Her second marriage was to Edgar Calvert who is a desendent of the brother of Lord Baltimore Calvert of England. They had two sons and four daughters. Clifton, Floyd, Geneiveve, Doris, Elaine, and Ann Marie who died as an infant. Floyd died when he was 11 or 12 years old of lockjaw. He stepped on a nail and never told anyone until it was to late. My mother said that he had dark hair and was not very tall, but that his hair turned white over night and just prior to his death he shot up in height so much that they had to get an adult coffin instead of a childs. Elaine is the only child remaining. My grandmother lived in DeSoto longer than I can remember. Before she died she lived with my Aunt Elaine. She joined our lord in 1979.

Clifton Calvert

Cliff served in the U.S Marine Corps during World War Two. He returned to Missouri after the war. My father and Uncle Clifton opened a radio repair shop on St. Louis Ave called ArtCliff. They were still in business when the very first Television became available to the public. My father ordered two, one to sell in the shop and one for our home. I was not yet born, but my sister said that she remembers the neighbors coming over and watching television with the family. Television was only on for a few hours a day and only at certain times. Cliffton married Helen and they had two daughters and lived in South Carolina, both my Aunt and Uncle are buried there.
We are looking for their daughters Nancy and Elizabeth.

Geneiveve Calvert Johnson

Genevive married Jerold Johnson in April of 1951. In December Genevive gave birth to Carol. Carol is special. She has a medical problem that caused her head to grow, but her brain remained small. Carol is the only member of her family still living. She is living in a home with other special people in Missouri. A few years later Rosemarie was born. Rosie was a normal child, she grew up and got married and had a daughter. She and her husband divorced shortly after their daughter was born. The husbands mother has the child. Rose and a companion were killed along side of a road when they were struck by a hit and run driver while changing a flat tire.

Aunt Gen also had a son Edward , he was also a special child. He was the opposite of Carol. His brain was growing, but his head remained small. When he was 18 mos. old they operated, God graced his life by taking it while he was on the operating table.

I do not know when my Uncle John passed but Aunt Gen passed in 1979. We do not know the exact cause of death.

He was well thought of on Catalina and lived the type of life they wanted. His family loved him deeply. Doris was happy with her husband and they seemed to enjoy life.
