Although the majority of the barbies
I owned were 70's models,
the ones that seem to be dearest
to my heart are those early 60's
models. I guess because these are
the ones I first fell in love with.
It was wonderful. Barbie could be
anything I wanted her to be, but most
importantly, she could represent
everything I dreamt of being, without
my limitations.
Oh, how I loved my Barbies, and my
make-believe world. Looking back,
it is wonderful to reflect on how
innocent those days were!
Sadly, I gave away all my original

I would realize how much I'd miss them.

the reproductions that Mattel is so keen
on bringing out. Actually, these fit my
wants very well. They are reproductions
of many barbies that I either had, or
played with as a kid. They are much more
affordable than trying to buy originals,
in the condition that I would want them in.
This may be an unpopular view, but frankly,
I really have no interest in old dolls,
in poor condition, if I am not responsible
for their condition. I took really, really
good care of my dolls. So, I much prefer to
compromise around the fact that they're
reproductions -- rather than have dolls
in poor condition.
