To submit a query, please use the Family Group Sheet chart shown below. I receive many messages that I can't make heads or tails of. Messages I receive sometimes list 3 or 4 fellows followed by "and he married ....." I have no idea which "he" is being referred to. To help speed things up a bit with the search within my data, I really need to know specifics. I simply have too many duplicate named (but different) folks on file to look up only a given and surname.
Include as much information as possible so that the family you are researching might be recognized.
If there is more than one marriage, list the mother above her children & then use a new group sheet for the 2nd wife followed by her children.
Please put all SURNAMES in capital letters.
Copy and paste the Family Group Sheet form onto an e-mail to me and fill in the blanks. Add any additional information and questions in the area left for notes, below the children.

In case you don't know how to send an outline thru e-mail but would like to give it a shot, directions are listed at the bottom of this page. Just scroll down past the Family Group Sheet chart.
Links back to the other pages are listed below the directions for sending an outline via e-mail at the bottom of this page.
Just by seeing how many steps are involved, you may think this is awful but once you have done it a couple of times, it really takes only a few seconds (NOT MINUTES). I have just written the steps trying not to leave anything for you to try to figure out on your own. I do it all the time. This is how I make the newsletter that I will send to you.
1.) Open up your family tree program (these instructions are for Family Tree Maker but other programs should work very similar)
2.) go to the family page that has the oldest person you want to include
3.) go to outline
4.) go to contents
5.) go to items to include
6.) highlight or click information that is in the box on the left (this would include birth date, death date, marriage date {include month and day, not just year}, sex, spouses's father, spouses's mother, and any facts that you may have written in)
7.) click on top arrow to move that information into the box on the right. Each time, click on okay after selection. After you have moved all the data fields that you want to include in the outline, click the last okay
8.) go back to contents
9.) go to # of generations to show
10.) select the number of generation you want to include
11.) click okay
12.) you may get a message telling you that you have selected too much information. Just ignore it and click okay. Your information may now show up on your screen way to little for you to read it but that doesn't matter. Once it is transferred to the e-mail, it gets back to normal reading size.
13.) go to edit
14.) go to copy outline descendant tree
15.) go to your online server (you don't have to close your family tree program, just click on the little mark (minimize) that makes that screen little so it is out of the way. It might say decrease or it might just be a little dash mark up in the corner of your screen)
16.) pretend you are going to write a message and click the little blinky line (cursor) in the message space so you could start writing (if you want to write a note now, you can. Your clicker (mouse) remembers that it is still holding your outline that you copied from your family tree program so writing a message won't interfere with that)
17.) go to edit (on AOL edit is at top of the screen)
18.) go to paste (on AOL edit is at top of the screen). My e-mail will take about 10-12 pages.
19.) your information should pop right into the message section of the e-mail
20.) All of the information you chose may not fit into your e-mail message box. If you get a message that tells you that you have chosen too much information, just go back and and decrease the number of generations to include although this rarely happens.
21.) fill in the address
22.) fill in the subject
23.) click send
If including all the generations of your family really does end up too big to fit into the e-mail message box but needs to be included in the message, another way to send ALL of the generations you have chosen is by doing the following:
after doing step ( 11.) that is written above
12.) open up your word program as if you were going to write a letter or whatever (mine is word perfect but any will do)
13.) go to edit
14.) go to paste
15.) your long outline should appear
16.) highlight about 6 or 8 pages of your outline starting at the beginning of your outline
17.) go to edit
18.) go to CUT (NOT copy)
19.) go to online server
20.) click in message box
21.) go to edit at top of screen
22.) go to paste
23.) finish filling out "subject" and "to" box then send that portion
24.) go back to your word program and cut the next 6 or 8 pages and put on new e-mail (just keep doing this until all of the outline in your word program has been transferred into e-mail). You don't have to worry about losing your place or duplicating or leaving out any of the outline. All that is left on your word program is information that you have not sent to e-mail yet. When all the information is gone from your word program, it means that you have copied all of it and sent it in e-mail messages.
This is the world's easiest way to send information via e-mail. And the absolute best thing about it is anybody will be able to read it without having to download, upload, decode or any of that other nonsense. Once your start sending your family information this way, you can put any portion of your file onto a message board without any additional typing on your part.
