![]() It all started one afternoon in 1994 when I was playing congklak a traditional Javanese game played with a wooden board with pots carved in it and a set of sea shells with several of my relatives. Then my cousin who often wins remarked, "Who's the Dakon Master here?" With it, I got the idea, why don't I make a computer game of congklak. This was the inspiration I had that was the beginnings of the game Dakon Master. About a week after that, I began working in the game. I was only 1st grade junior high back then. I coded in QuickBASIC at weekends and sometimes weekdays when mom and dad were not home (my grades were then rather bad, so that I was only allowed to play with the computer only on Saturdays and Sundays). I designed the user interface using TheDraw a text-based screen builder program. After about three months, it was finally finished. I showed it to my friends in school and my relatives. I also uploaded it to the local IBM BBS. It didn't get much response, but never mind.... It was my first game anyway. The source code was unfortunately lost. I had several hard drive crashes since I made Dakon Master (two of which were Seagate ST-xxx series no offence), and the backup was placed on a 5.25" diskette which was also misplaced... If I find it now, probably it won't be readable anymore... :,(
