What!? Rangers Deal For Youth?
The Rangers acquired Todd Harvey, 23, along with Bob Errey, 34, from
the Dallas Stars for Brian Skrudland and Mike Keane. Keane and Skrudland were
both signed as free agents this past offseason.

In Harvey, the Rangers get a feisty, scrappy winger whose style is
similar to that of Adam Graves. Selected 9th overall in the 1993 Entry draft,
Harvey has accumulated 38 goals and 99 points to go along with 449 penalties
in minutes in just 239 games played. Although Harvey is not a good skater, he
has good anticipation and awareness and has very good hands. He is also willing
to pay the price to score ugly goals in front of the net. At 6 foot and 200 lbs,
Harvey is not big enough to be a legitimate heavyweight, but he does not back
down from challengers. At his best, he gets inside opponents jerseys and heads.
Bob Errey joins his sixth team since 92-93, he has played for Pittsburgh,
Buffalo, San Jose, Detroit, San Jose, Dallas and now the Rangers. A three time
20 goal scorer, his last 20 goal season was back in 90-91 with the Pittsburgh
Penguins, Errey is known more for ability to perform as a checking winger than
as a goal scorer. He will called upon to fill the void left by Keane and Skrudland
on the penalty killing unit.

In a seperate deal, the Rangers dealt Mike Eastwood, 31, to St.Louis
for Harry York, 24. York made a huge splash last year with St.Louis, where he
finished the season with 14 goals and 32 points. He also finished second among
NHL rookies in shooting percentage and was tied for the longest point-scoring
streak by a rookie at eight games.
At 6' 1" and 210 lbs, York is by no means a powerforward, but is extremely
strong and this kid just loves to hit. He can punish opposing defensmen and create
scoring chances off the forecheck, something the Rangers sorely need. Although
he is not blessed with great hands, York can make the nice pass from time to
time and with a little experience, he can develop into a 20-plus goal scorer.
