Linares 2003 - Feb 21st - March 9th
- In the traditional Linares Supertournament, Anand will be joined by Garry Kasparov, Vladimir Kramnik, Peter Leko, Ruslan Ponomariov, Francisco Vallejo Pons and Teimour Radjabov. Note that the rest days are 26th February and 4th March 2003.

- Anand will start off the new year in what is now a tradition for most top GMs. He will play in Corus. The other players include: Kramnik, Ponomariov, Ivanchuk, Topalov, Timman and others.

The FIDE World Cup 2002 -- Hyderabad, India - October 9th - 20th
- Anand, under a lot of pressure to play in this one, has relented. Most of the other superGMs have refused and thus Anand is easily the top seed. Lots of pressure on him since he will be playing in front of his home country.

- Match of the Century 2002 -- Russia versus the Rest of the World -- Moscow, Russia September 8th - 11th
- Anand,led the Rest of the World team. Kasparov, Kramnik and Karpov played in the match but the Rest of the World won. Anand played 9 games and did well.

- Frankfurt Chess Classic 2000 - June 22nd-25th
- Anand will play in the Fujitsu Siemens Giants category.
The other five players in this double round robin category are Kasparov,
Kramnik, Leko, Morozevich and Shirov.

It's the Dortmund Sparkassen Chess Meeting 2000.
In the first round, Anand will play Khalifman. The others
in this tournament are Bareev, Adams, Piket, Akopian, Leko, Huebner and the
computer JUNIOR 6.

- Early 2000 Ultimate WCC World Championship Match with Gary
Kasparov. CANCELLED

Anand and Kasparov have agreed to play a 16 game match sometime
in November (previously announced as October) 1999 for the title
of the World Champion. If it is a 8-8 tie, Garry retains his
title.
This match might be held in Prague, but the venue has not been
announced.

category, but he was a close second (by 0.5 points) in the Blindfold

touted as the strongest tournament of 2000.

qualifying games. AZT did qualify for the finals, held in
late October, but Anand did not participate in that.

- Monaco is not your average tournament. One blitz
game and one blindfold game every day!
Kramnik, Karpov, Topalov and Shirov are
joining Anand.

- Anand's performance in 1999 at Linares was
excellent. He finished second and Kasparov won.
