History Of The Hamilton
Bulldogs
The Bulldogs history
starts on May 9th, 1996. The official date when the Cape Breton Oilers
moved to Hamilton, Ontario.
The organization held
a "Name The Team" Contest and the most selected name
was "Bulldogs" and we had a name!
Our coach was then
named, and it was Lorne Molleken, who coached the previous season in Cape
Breton. He hired Ric Nattress and Mike Fedorko as his first assistants.
Fedorko has since left the team for a head coaching job in Italy.
Our first season was
definately a success. The regular season we receive 69 points, and squeaked
into the playoffs. We made it all the way to the Calder Cup Finals,
but then lost to the Hershey Bears.
So as a new season
is set to begin, we're going for more!
